registry

registry
A register, or book authorized or recognized by law, kept for the recording or registration of facts or documents. The list or record of ships subject to the maritime regulations of a particular country. The listing of a vessel at a custom house under the name of the country whose flag it flies, though such flag is not necessarily indicative of the nationality of the owner.
Generally, "registry" applies to vessels in foreign commerce, whereas "enrollment" refers to coastwise navigation. R. C. Craig Limited v. Ships of Sea Inc., D.C.Ga., 345 F.Supp. 1066, 1070
